Staying up late, or waking up early, for new launches make for little things in life that thrill. Like the new DisneyXKoovs collaboration that launched on the site at the stroke of midnight.
I make it a point to check the Koovs.com mobile app religiously on my phone each night before bed. There’s fashion to be indulged in and having personally met the London team, I know of their religious adherence to delivering home what’s clicking in the sartorial world, plane tickets in hand, travelling the world for style finds.
So when they launched a DisneyXKoovs capsule collection, rendered in a state of such excite, I knew it wouldn’t be run of the mill stuff. Fashion forward is how they roll. And oh boy! They delivered and how!
The collection for both him and her are plastered with the Disney first couple Mickey and Minnie Mouse (mice?).
There’s something for all seasons in the edit- think cotton, neppy french terry, viscose-lycra blend, polyester and fleece. The silhouettes range from summer shorts to figure hugging body suits, skirts to play suits, dresses, t-shirts, jeans, leggings, shirts, hoodies, vests, sweatshirts… phtooey! Oh, and there are shoes and bags too.
Quickly scrolling down the app page, I picked those that caught my eye at first glance. Not the only, but my immediate favourites included the Printed Jersey Tube Skirt the Jersey Bodysuit with Minnie Mouse Slogan Print and the Minnie Acid Wash Fluted Sleeve Jacket.
I reached for the pencil skirt because they have my heart, looking good on them curves, tapering down sexily as they go. Haanji, body moulding = visible love handles, however there’s nothing an extra styling can’t conceal! Throw on a long top over it, or tie a shirt around your waist.
The bold red skirt itself has prints all over, reminiscent of a comic strip. Very pop-art. I wore it to an afternoon coffee meet, with a plain white top and a double buckle belt. A basic pairing. However, one could do a print clash too. My #OOTD stood divided over a yes-or-no to a dark blue shrug for a spot of colour block relief. (Psst: Said shrug also took care of my love handles. There!)
For those who’ve followed my fashion (mis)adventures in the past, you’ll know that I’m werking bodysuits abhi. The DisneyXKoovs capsule has a couple. I chose one in acid blue, skewing from the usual colours in my wardrobe. I wore it with girlfriend jeans, however the sartorial compass in my head keeps pointing me to pairing body suits with saris. Maybe soon!
The collab collection also has cotton kimono jacket that called out to me, showing off its fluted sleeves, beckoning. Coupled with the fact that nine times out of 10, the city girl needs to layer her street style edit, it’s a must.
Oh, and fanatics of all things vintage, this one’s a dream for you. Its Mickey + Minnie illustration is old school, that Walt Disney original coloured black-white-peach to conserve the drama. Wear it on that #ThrowbackThursday complete with a beret.
TBH, there’s so much more that I want from the collection. My demands per usual remain endless, however I have a getaway to Thailand coming up, and the girl-on-a-budget must try control spending binges. But for those not tied down by demands of shopaholic-ism, head over and #WerkItGirl, before it’s go-go-gone!
Tell me how it was 🙂
Psst: Dear Koovs fairy. Would you consider my wish list for future collaborations?
Balmain & Moschino. I’m thinking the iconic Olivier Rousteing shift dress. And my wardrobe is starving for a dose of wacky pop culture celebration a la Jeremy Scott :*
HUEMN Studio. One of the few brands #WerkingIt right in the Indian fashion scene. Bring that gorilla into our wardrobes 😀
Eina Ahluwalia. Mizz Ahluwalia’s baubles celebrates self-awesome. We could do with a little reminder on us 🙂
A girl can dream on.
